When particularly high wear resistance is needed precision tools can be manufactured from solid carbide or with carbide inserts. The tools and objects can be ground and polished according to needs.   

Cold stamping tools are used extensively in the manufacturing of nails, screws, rivets, etc. When producing large uniform batches carbide inserts are used to signiticantly increase the lifetime of such tools.
